“The Fast Forward film series offers a vital new space for artists to reimagine the future” explains Olafur Eliasson, artist and founder of Little Sun. “Engaging with art can make the world ‘felt’ … and this ‘felt’ feeling spurs thinking, connection, and even action. Art and culture hold great potential to move us. A painting can bring us joy, a song can lift us up, a film can connect us to new characters and stories.”

Possible World by Ezra Wube is a painted animation inspired by interviews conducted with over 100 everyday individuals across Ethiopia. A series of beautiful and dynamic scenes brings to life the dreams of his subjects for a regenerative world, starting with existing practices that benefit both communities and the environment. Wube presents a collective vision as a model for our shared future.

“Through their emotive reflections, artists can translate and communicate abstract ideas such as scientific statistical data into a relatable experience,” expressed Ezra Wube, a cross-disciplinary mixed-media artist born and raised in Ethiopia, and currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.  Wube’s work references the notion of past and present, the constant changing of place, and the dialogical tensions between ‘here’ and ‘there.’

Fast Forward explores a future that is fair and regenerative, realized through global collaboration and the centering of historically marginalized groups. It intends to reframe the prevailing political rhetoric on climate change, grounding the narrative in the lived experience and voice of global citizens.

Note from NOW FOUNDER:

Little Sun was founded in 2012 by the contemporary artist Olafur Eliasson and Frederik Ottesen, an engineer – an artist and a problem solver who look at the world from different perspective. They believe that every person has the power to change the world with their passion, creativity, ingenuity and that everyone has a role to play in changing the world for the better. Little Sun supports artists that can help us bring about what’s possible by giving us the inspirations and hope we need to create something better.

NOW share their belief that in order to create a world that thrives, we must urgently shift our perspective and turn conversations that center on feeling and hope for all.
