Mel Cutcliffe is the Director of indigoeight communications. With a career spanning over 25 years in the PR industry (specialising in luxury tourism, spa and lifestyle), Mel has been directly involved in creating and overseeing campaigns for many of the world’s best-loved hotels, resorts, award-winning spas, luxury travel and wellness operators, as well as ski and safari destinations.
In September 2015, Mel launched a new style of boutique agency, indigoeight communications, offering a more flexible fee structure and access to a network of skilled senior consultants working across a wide range of specialist areas. The agency’s growing portfolio includes leading clients from the wellness, travel and design sectors.
Prior to this, Mel was Managing Director at international lifestyle agency, PRCo UK, for 5 years until 2014. This move came after she had launched her first PR business in 1998, Indigo Public Relations, which ran for 11 years, before merging with PRCo. During this period, Mel was fortunate to be part of the drive to promote the developing luxury eco, adventure and wellness tourism sectors, and worked with many dynamic privately-owned businesses, thought leaders and trailblazing start ups.
She continues to develop her interest in health & wellness tourism and is enjoying being part of this booming sector working alongside some of the most established and exciting new wellbeing brands. Her experience has involved launching international spas and promoting specialist operators, introducing skincare brands to the UK, profiling therapists and supporting the development of trendsetting programmes. Travel remains a huge passion; and it’s hard not to enjoy the chance to keep ticking off the bucket list or meeting some of our world’s most colourful and inspiring people.
Big skies, landscapes, nature – and an element of water (as an enthusiastic houseboat owner) – are always a draw. Basically anything that takes Mel into the great outdoors.
Mel is a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. She is delighted to be part of the NOW team as she has seen first hand the positive benefits of sustainable tourism to both local communities and the surrounding environment, through her work promoting some game-changing conservation initiatives specifically in Africa and even up in the Highlands of Scotland.
