Tyler Kirk is a founding member of itmustbeNOW.com
Tyler was interning in Paris in 2015 at Landor Associates post university in Canada where he majored in Political Science. Climate change discussions and the message to reduce and mitigate carbon were vibrant and renewable energy solutions were on display in central Paris as the 2015 COP 21 Paris Climate Conference took place to achieve a legally binding and universal agreement on climate to keep global warming below 2°C. With this landmark agreement in the background, he conversed with Alexa Poortier and observed that the older generations were responsible for the current state of the planet and should help Gen Y&Z generation to fix it … and it must be NOW.
Tyler is the Marketing Manager of itmustbeNOW.com which he helped launch in 2017 while maintaining other marketing projects to gain a wider experience in the business world. He believes that most of his “Y” generation and Gen Z are super skeptical and wise to the green spin also known as ‘greenwash’, and prefer their own peers, forums and platforms to be informed about issues and differing perspectives. He considers marketing and communications a huge challenge with massive content available at our fingertips, yet many people are misinformed by information, disconnected and disengaged. He also considers the lack of social media technology regulation a huge concern which allows monopolies to accumulate and track public profile behavior and internet habits, and the use of raw data and algorithms with the intent to sell access that invade lives with annoying advertising while they make billions from it.
His avid personal interest in travel, animation and online games is balanced with his fascination of history and political science, and one of his favorite quote comes from an old Greek proverb, “A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they will never sit in.” He considers himself privileged to be able to travel extensively at a young age and believe his generation should travel consciously and connect with global cultures to realise that we are all the same, and should only support companies that seriously help people and planet to make sure we have a better tomorrow. It must be NOW!
