High QU.A.L.ITY Carbon Credits
QUANTIFICATION: Robust methodology quantifies GHG emission reductions. This data is supported by cross-checked information and accurate emission factors applied from IPCC default factors.
ADDITIONALITY: GHG emission reductions would not have occurred in the absence of the project activity. Implement technologies that replace traditional water purification methods that typically involve boiling water, thus reducing greenhouse gas emissions by a significant margin.
LONG-TERM STORAGE: Maintain high operational rates of water purification systems (WPS) ranging from 233 to 310 days per year respectively. The SPOUTS water filters comply with both international and local water quality standards to ensure long-term health benefits and access to clean water.
SUSTAINABILITY: Contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 3, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 13.
Social Benefits: Supports local communities. Improves public health by providing access to safe drinking water. Reduces the financial burden on households for fuelwood.
Economic Benefits: Job creation in the installation and maintenance of the water purifiers, contributes to the local economy and supports community welfare. Reduces deforestation.
Environmental Benefits: Avoids carbon emissions caused by the boiling of water collected from open sources and the burning of fuelwood. Conserves nature by reducing deforestation. Better aesthetic, cleaner and more energy efficient than using wood fuel, reducing the use of non-renewable biomass which helps in maintaining forest cover and protecting biodiversity.
