- Offsetting is created either by supporting energy development that uses renewable sources like wind or solar power, by funding nature-based conservation activities such as planting a mangrove forest or enhancing sinks of both long-lived and short-lived greenhouse gases, and by deploying carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCS) technology.
