What’s new and wonderful!
In-house valorization of our bio-waste
Green and food waste represents up to a third of our waste production, we are therefore implementing a pyrolysis project for our bio-waste to produce heat to heat our swimming pools. The combustion residue will be a biochar used to fertilize the soil and thus increase its quality. This biochar is also a very useful way for the long-term sequestration of atmospheric carbon in soils.
Furthermore, our food waste is transformed into compost which will serve as an amendment for our soils.
- La Coquillade, refuge for wildlife: each year, eco-managed beehives are brought in transhumance to spend the summer in our oak tree forest. Bees feed on the forest flora while enriching its biodiversity and pollinating wild plants and flowers. Moreover, in association with the League for the Protection of Birds; the Estate becomes a refuge for wild fauna and flora, ensuring their protection via a Charter which excludes hunting and fishing; commits us to creating conditions conducive to the life of the soil, wild fauna and flora; preserve the refuge from all pollution and reduce our impact on the environment.
- La Coquillade Organic Vineyard: We started in 2019 a process of conversion in our vineyard to produce certified organic wines. Vines and cellars (vinification) are managed according to Organic Farming European Specifications.
- Single-use plastic mitigation: Our new in-room bath/body care product line is produced by “Rose et Marius”, an eco-responsible maker based in Provence. All products are made available in refillable dispensers, and for every €120 of purchase, the brand plants a tree.
Spa products from "Tata Harper": 100% vegan products, packaged in 100% recyclable packaging.
Coquillade Provence no longer uses plastic water bottles. All drinking water served throughout our property is bottled in house and on the spot. Guests and staff receive individual eco-conscious metal flasks that can be refilled freely at our fountains of micro-strained, potentized drinking water.
- Our Potager/Herb Garden: Our 3000m² organic herb garden yields fresh vegetables and herbs used in our restaurants. In addition, our Chef uses fresh and seasonal fruits & vegetables purchased from local small family farms.
